Ajax Pick Up Where They Left Off

Defending champions Ajax continued to dominate with another crushing win in the second week of this season's Eredivisie, whilst Feyenoord kept up their 100% record under Ronald Koeman in their continuing quest to put last term's disappointing campaign firmly behind them.

And Feyenoord is where we start this week as the unbeaten Rotterdammers came out comfortable 3-0 winners over visiting Roda in front of 40,000 fans at the De Kuip Stadion. Twenty two year old Jerson Cabral began what would be a man of the match performance by opening the scoring on twelve minutes after finding the top corner.

Both sides pressed for the game's second goal, but it wasn't until early on in the second half that the home side got their second as Cabral set up Leroy Fer to make it 2-0. And it was that man Cabral again who rounded up the scoring six minutes later, making it 3-0.

Twente, and new boss Co Adriaanse, continued their 100% start too with a 2-0 win over AZ Alkmaar. And the home fans only had to wait three minutes to see the first home goal of the season hit the back of the net courtesy of Marc Janko, his second in as many games. Despite AZ's best efforts, it was Twente who scored next to ultimately wrap up the points through Bryan Ruiz on 66 minutes, who reportedly said after the game he hoped the goal would aid his attempts to get a move to Premiership club Tottenham Hotspur.

PSV got their first win of the new season, but it was less than convincing as they only managed to beat newly promoted RKC Waalwijk by a goal to a nil at their own Philips Stadion. Dries Martens scored the only goal of the game with twenty four minutes gone to get the Eindhoven side off the mark points wise in the league.

Vitesse Arnhem proved a little more prolific in front of goal however as they swept aside visiting VVV Venlo 4-0. Marco van Ginkel scored their first in the 5th minute, with Venlo's Marcel Meeuwis putting through his own net to double the host's lead nine minutes later. Arnhem continued to dominate and goals from Wilfried Bonno (51) and Giorgi Chanturia (89) made it 4-0 to complete the rout.

On Sunday Ajax built on their prolific win last week and remain top after a 5-1 win over Heerenveen, making it nine goals in just two games for the Amsterdam giants. Kolbeinn Sigthórsson made it 1-0 on 37 minutes only for a well worked Bas Dost strike to make it 1-1 two minutes later. However Ajax weren't done for the half and a wonder strike from Toby Alderweireld ensured they went in ahead at the break.

Even though Heerenveen had looked like they could hold their own against the defending champions during the first half, it was a different story during the second as a dominant Ajax added three more to their tally. Derk Boerrigter (51), Miralem Sulejmani (75) and Dutch international full back Gregory van der Wiel (90), all put their seal to an impressive 5-1 win.

Tim Matavž netted the first hat trick of this season's Eredivisie to help Groningen on their way to their first win of the campaign as they beat ADO Den Haag 4-2. Matavž scored his and his side's first in the 16th minute and made it 2-0 only five minutes later after finding the top corner. And before the half was over the Slovenian had completed his hat trick, making it 3-0 on 37.

Matavž then turned provider only three minutes after the break, setting up Leandro Bacuna to put his side four goals ahead. Den Haag attempted to mount a comeback with Lex Immers (51) and Mike van Duinen (59) scoring, but it was too little too late as the game ended 4-2.

Heracles had to fight back from a goal down when they hosted NAC Breda, beating them 2-1. Matthew Amoah's header put Bread 1-0 up with 32 minutes gone, and despite Heracles' best efforts it wasn't until they were awarded a penalty in the 66th minute that they levelled the game, Willy Overtoom converting the spot kick. The home side continued to press and Everton Ramos da Silva scored the winner, and his second of the season, thirteen minutes from time.

A late fight back from FC Utrecht denied De Graafschap all three points as it ended 2-2 at Nieuw Galgenwaard. Goals from Rydell Poepon and Soufian El Hassnaoui, in the 14th and 59th minutes respectively, gave Graafschap a 2-0 lead. However, Jacob Mulenga had other ideas and grabbed a brace in the space of six minutes, the first coming after 77 minutes, to make it 2-2 and earn his side a point.

Relegation play off survivors SC Excelsior are still in search of their first point of this season as they were beaten 2-0 on their travels to NEC Nijmegen. The game looked to be heading for a goalless draw before a goal twenty minutes from time through Melvin Platje and another from him seven minutes later earned NEC all three points.
