League 1: Brighton maintain their unbeaten streak

Brighton extended their lead at the top of the table to six points after a comfortable 2-0 win at Yeovil. The in-form Kazenga LuaLua brilliantly picked out Glenn Murray who headed the Seagulls ahead at the break. Brighton’s second came after a quick thinking free-kick from Marcos Painter found Inigo Calderon on the edge of the area. The Spaniard adjusted himself before firing a low shot into the bottom left hand corner. This win means Brighton are now unbeaten in nine League games.

The Championship: Sven's back again and Strachan bites the bullet.

It has been another terrible week for Middlesbrough- two losses and the resignation of their manager Gordon Strachan. At the weekend they lost to Leeds 2-1 after goals from Becchio and Somma gave Leeds the three points. On Wednesday Middlesbrough lost away at Nottingham Forest 1-0 after a goal from McGuagan. This continued poor form from Middlesbrough leaves them in one place above the drop zone on goal difference.

NPower League One: Unusual suspects lead the way

Brighton stayed top of the table after an emphatic 4-0 away win against hapless Charlton Athletic. Spaniard Inigo Calderon got the ball rolling when he smashed home from six yards after a well placed cross from Gary Dickers. The second came midway through the second half when Glen Murray took full advantage of a comedy of defensive errors, before rounding the keeper and coolly slotting the ball past two static defenders on the line.
