There are still only four points between the top five sides in the Eredivisie as this season looks all set to be one of the closest yet. AZ Alkmaar replaced Twente at the top, whilst PSV silenced their critics with a crushing 7-1 win to keep them in the top four.
It was goals galore, as always, during the latest round of games in the Eredivisie as the Netherlands finest hit the back of the net no less than 35 times! Including five from the league leaders FC Twente and an evenly split four goal game between two Dutch giants.

Not all football fans may have seen a small, but widely circulated, news story last week. It concerned the Portuguese and Real Madrid no. 7, who during his mercurial career has never been one to stray too far from some form of wind-up. However, this wasn't to do with anything that happened on the pitch, but rather what came out of Ronaldo's mouth.
The Eredivisie returned from the international break this past weekend in emphatic style with the ball hitting the back of the net a massive 32 times in nine games. And with five games gone the top five is beginning to look pretty familiar, despite last season's runners up FC Twente relinquishing their 100% record on their visit to Roda JC last Saturday.
With European football in full swing as of this week, we will have the first glimpse of the effects it will have on the league schedule for the teams involved. It is a strange conundrum which many teams will go through in search of glory at home and abroad, and the balancing act is one which will test many teams to their limits.
