Benched for the game after an all-night drinking session, the plucky duo set out to exact revenge with this cunning ruse.
Unfortunately, the joke was on them. The pair have been banned from playing for Scotland ever again and suspended by Rangers for two weeks without pay. Ferguson has also been stripped of the club captaincy.
Alan Shearer’s decision to take the reins at Newcastle makes him the 7th member of England’s Euro96 squad to step up into management. Unfortunately for the Toon the omens aren’t good. Every other member of Terry Venables’ squad to try their hand at management has found the going pretty tough at the top.
Crucial International fixtures were being 
The 1st of April has become synonymous with making a fool of those around you, but this year it has been challenged by news of a more serious nature. President Barack Obama was in London for the G20 Summit and it may disappoint some of you to know that was not at Wembley last night. A great shame and a photo opportunity missed I feel; if the world was to combine Obama's stability and determination with Mr Capello's discipline and steeliness, we could maybe find the cure for the global credit crisis.
Newcastle must have really rushed to announce Alan Shearer’s appointment before midnight last night, because otherwise everyone would have thought it was an April fool.
